You can identify if the water supply to your property is delivered through a lead water pipe by looking at the pipe where it enters your home. This is commonly located near your internal stop below your kitchen sink. A lead pipe can be identified by marking the surface lightly with a flat head screw driver. Upon doing so a lead pipe will have a shiny silver coloured mark. Your incoming water pipe, if not blue MDPE plastic could also be steel, copper or black poly in which case should be replaced as it will cause you trouble in the future.
